The A-Ha Moments in Life...

We all have that moment, or moments, in life when things suddenly become clear to us. The moment when we discover who we are, what we want, and where we need to be. To me, the aha moment is liken to an awakening, or a rebirth.

Aha moment is defined as a sudden realization, inspiration, insight, recognition, or comprehension. It can happen at any time.

The last few months have been filled with aha moments for me, and with those moments have come inner peace, and happiness.

I believe the key to aha moments is inward reflection. I had to ask myself what I really wanted, why I wanted it, and what was I willing to do to get it, and to keep it.

Aha moments apply to so many things in life. It can be about the creation of an invention. The moment you finally figure out how to make that one thing work. Or the moment you master math. It can even be the moment you realize it's over, and it is time to move on.

The aha moments can be happy, sad, exhilarating, or anxiety inducing, but either way you had your realization. And now you can move forward.

Heading into 2018 is a more goal oriented, and driven Charlene. I temporarily allowed myself to become distracted, and less focused, which is out of character for me. The year of 2017 was full of uncharacteristically bad decisions, mainly with people.

The aha moments have arrived, and I plan to let some people who do not deserve to be in my life go, and write my heart out all of 2018.

What was your aha moment of 2017? How will it impact your 2018?

There are things that we don't want to happen but we have to accept, things we don't want to know but we have to learn, and people we can't live without but we have to let go. - Unknown Author

This Or That...Given Two Options, Which Would You Choose?

Some might say that having an option is often an illusion. The world seems to be full of choices, but are all of those options really available to you? There are a lot of car choices, but can afford to buy any car you choose?

There are thousands of potential colleges to attend, but will they accept you? With billions of people in the world, we still sometimes do not get the one we want. Choices have limitations. Even with the brains, money, looks, and charm, you cannot have it all.

Life might be simpler with fewer choices. Perhaps lead to less disappointment? If you only had two choices what would you pick? Trust me, I keep it real simple.

Food Options

  • Pizza or Burger

  • Fries or Chips

  • Tacos or Nachos

  • Salad or Sandwich

  • Pasta or Panini

  • Cookies or Brownies

 Big Kid Toys

  • Home Movie Theatre or Infinity Pool

  • Playstation or Xbox

  • Jet Ski or Surf Board

  • Yacht or Private Jet

  • Villa or Log Cabin

  • Tesla or Nissan GT-R

Man/Woman

  • Beautiful/Handsome or Sexy (not really the same)

  • Smart or Funny

  • Kind or Reliable

  • Strong or Passionate

  • Loving or Generous

  • Introvert or Extrovert

Free/Fun Time

  • Reading or TV Watching

  • To Give or To Receive (hmm)

  • Gym or Hiking

  • Traveling or Chilling at Home

  • Volunteering or Home Projects

  • Dinner Parties or Sports Bar

The answers to most of the options are very clear to me. Others were honestly a toss-up. Even though I made the list, some are tougher to choose between than others. I want both. I want it all. I love a hot guy, with a kind heart, who is smart, funny, and makes me laugh. Don't we all deserve that? What would you choose?

This Life...How Did I Get Here?

Have you ever sat and reflected on your life and on how you got to where you were? Not necessarily in a bad way. Maybe your life is great, but admittedly maybe there are some things you would change if you could, right?  Life is one big series of decisions. Choice after, after choice, after choice. Although many times we feel like we do not have a choice in a particular situation, it is quite often a matter of not liking the options.

I think there comes a point in all of our lives when we ask the question, "how did I get here?". Whether it is health and fitness issues, marital problems, financial problems, a work situation, or addiction. It all always comes down to our decisions along the way. You will not always choose right, but it is important to learn from your mistakes. Do not continue making poor choices, because there is always another decision to make right around the corner. There is always another chance to do better, to be better.

There is no going back in life, and very rarely are we allowed a do over.  We can procrastinate, delay, stall, but eventually you have to choose, and live with that choice. Fail to choose timely, and the decision is made for you. Sometimes the options are between something easy, and something difficult. Rarely will the easy choice lead down the path of success, true happiness, or fulfillment.

Perhaps even worse than the bad decision, is no decision. A "default" decision, so to speak. Leaving your fate in the hands of others is no way to live, and the coward way out. Make the best decision you can with the information you have, own it, and hope for the best. Better yet, make additional good decisions along the way to increase the odds of success and happiness. Those are my words of wisdom, but I am still a work in progress.

You are not the victim of the world, but rather the master of your own destiny. It is your choices and decisions that determine your destiny - Roy T. Bennett
