6 Signs You Have Outgrown Your Relationship

As the years go by, we grow and we change. Our wants and desires from 10 years ago may be vastly different than what they are today. It is inevitable. Life happens, priorities change, and as we gain insight and knowledge, our world view changes as well.

Unfortunately, sometimes our growth can negatively impact relationships in our lives, especially romantic relationships. The guy or girl that you were at 25 is not the same person at 35. You basically outgrow people in your life, including romantic partners.

If you are reading this, chances are you have already realized that you have outgrown your partner, but are looking for some definitive signs. Here are the six signs that you have outgrown your relationship.

6 Signs You Have Outgrown Your Relationship

Your Priorities Are Different

She is an ambitious, career focused money saver, while he prefers to focus on his hobbies, spend money like there is a never ending pot of money, and bounces from job to job. While once on the same page, one person has grown and become focused, while the other partner has become stagnant.

Your Interests Are Different

He is a political junkie and a huge Star Wars fan, while she is into reality television and fashion. He wants to talk about the upcoming election, and she is not even a registered voter. There is a problem here.

At some point these two people became polar opposites, and started to lack commonality. One is interested in world events, while the other is interested in looking cute and taking selfies.

Nothing To Talk About

pexels-photo-984946.jpeg

You know that you have outgrown each other when you really have nothing to talk about, or it is the same old stories over and over.

It important to recognize that you have nothing to talk about because you have nothing in common, and you have nothing in common because you have outgrown each other.

You’re Bored

If you find your partner boring, you have outgrown them. The truth is that you find them boring because you now share different interests, are on a different intellectual levels, and no commonality any longer.

Different Values

Once upon a time you were both drinkers and into going out a lot. Now she’s a homebody, but he still likes to drink and go out a lot. She also likes to attend church, but he is a non believer.

Lifestyle and differing religious beliefs are big changes that happen as we grow and mature.

Different Goals

His goal is to have a nice family life with a few kids, while her goal is retire by 50 and then travel world. She doesn’t see kids in her future, and views them as a burden, while he sees children as a blessing.

It is hard to admit to yourself that you have outgrown your relationship without sounding like you are criticizing your partner or being judgey, but it is what it is. You should not feel guilty because you have grown and changed, especially if your growth has been for the better.

What are your thoughts on outgrowing relationships? Do you agree with the signs? When you outgrow a relationship do you stick it out or move on? Please share your experience!

“Sometimes the door closes on a relationship, not because we failed but because something bigger than us says this no longer fits our life. So, lock the door, shed a tear, turn around and look for the new door that’s opened. It’s a sign that you’re no longer that person you were, it’s time to change into who you are. It’s going to be okay.” - Lee Goff

Roasted Lemon Rosemary Chicken

I love a roasted chicken and make one almost every Sunday. For me, roasted chicken is the epitome of comfort food. I truly love everything about the process of cooking a roasted chicken. I love getting the fresh lemons and rosemary from my garden, and best of all I love watching this ugly pale piece of meat turn into a golden, beautiful, delicious meal.

Although a whole chicken, is just a whole chicken, you can really do so much with one. For this recipe I am making a lemon rosemary chicken, but I also occasionally like to do a nice cajun rub and roast the chicken, or cook the chicken spatchcock style on the grill.

Cooking a roasted chicken is super easy, but also a crowd pleaser, and not nearly as difficult as people think. Give it a try. Bon Appetit!

Roasted Lemon Rosemary Chicken

Ingredients:

Lemon Chicken Prep.jpg
  • 1 5lb. Whole Chicken, Giblets Removed

  • ¼ Cup Butter

  • 3 tsp. Olive Oil

  • 3 Sprigs plus 1 tbsp. of Rosemary, Finely Chopped

  • 1 Lemon, 1/2 Lemon Quarterd, 1/2 Lemon Squeezed

  • 3 Whole Garlic Cloves

  • Salt

  • Pepper

  • Paprika

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine butter, olive oil, lemon juice, and rosemary in a bowl. Pat the chicken completely dry with a paper towel. Sprinkle chicken liberally with salt, paprika, and pepper. Using hand, coat chicken inside and out with butter mixture and place in roaster, breast side up and wings tucked under.

Insert rosemary sprigs, garlic, and quartered lemons in chicken cavity. Bake for about 1 hour on lower rack, and reduce oven temperature to 375 degrees. Continue to bake for another 30-45 minutes, until juices run clear.

Remove chicken from oven and let sit for about 30 minutes before carving. I recommend that you ladle pan juices over your chicken before serving.

That’s it! Pretty simple right. Not much prep time to a roasted chicken. You basically season it and pop in the oven for a couple of hours. Easy peasy! Enjoy!

6 Signs He Wants To Be More Than Friends

Some friendships are destined to take a romantic turn. A relationship rooted in friendship has a solid foundation, and the strong possibility of great compatibility, and many years of happiness. A beautiful friendship can become a beautiful romantic love.

Hopefully both individuals in this friendships are on the same page about whether or not the relationship will remain platonic.

We are often terrible at hiding our feelings from those who barely know us, and it is even harder to hide our feelings from those closest to us. Despite the fact that secret love, and crushes, are often obvious to the bystander, those involved are frequently clueless.

The signs that he wants more than friendship are there if you know what to look for.

6 Signs He Likes You More Than A Friend

FEATURED VIDEO - 6 Signs He Wants To Be More Than Friends

The Way He Looks At You

emotional affair.jpeg

Do his eyes get all googly when he looks at you? Does he try to hold your gaze for a little too long, or stare at you intensely? If he is your “friend” but gazing into your eyes, he most certainly wants to be more than friends. Unfortunately for him, our eyes often betray us.

We cannot help but want to stare at the object of our affection. His eyes tell you how he feels, and deep, longing looks usually mean feelings of deep longing.

The Way He Communicates With You

Does he frequently find little ways to text you, call you, or just chat you up. You two have your own language, and he often teases you, or calls you by pet names. It is not just about the frequency of the communication, but also the way he talks to you.

He will likely be softer and gentler in his approach, or extra funny and charming. He will also be easy to talk to, which is a big one with women.

How He Treats You In Contrast To Others

adult-blur-bonnet-246367.jpg

Pay close attention to how he treats you in contrast to how he treats others. Do you find that you get to see the softer, funnier, more charming version of him than what others get to experience. While some people might describe him as cold, unapproachable, or quiet, with you he seems to be the complete opposite.

With you he tends to be warm, upbeat, and easy to talk to. So he is basically adorable and hard to resist.

The Amount Of Attention He Gives You

You are never far from his mind, so his focus is usually on you. In a group setting he will seek you out. If you are at a gathering he somehow always ends up by your side. He is always your biggest supporter, and advocate, and will not entertain a negative word against you.

If he cannot be by your side, he will keep you in his line of sight.

His Reaction To Your Presence

backlit-bonding-casual-708392.jpg

If your friend secretly wants more, his body will react immediately to your presence. When you walk into the room he will likely straighten his posture, he may unconsciously start to groom himself, and his eyes will beam, even though he doesn’t realize it.

He wants to look good for you. He may also get a little fidgety and nervous because he wants to make a good impression.

He Gets Jealous

He cannot help himself. The thought of you with another guy drives him crazy. Maybe you’re taken, or perhaps he’s taken, but no matter your current situations it doesn’t change the fact that he wants you to be his.

It doesn’t change the fact that he wants you all to himself, which is why seeing you talk to other guys, or hearing about your dates or relationships not only infuriates him, but also breaks his heart a little.

If a guy does more than a couple of these things in relation to a woman who is not his chick, he has got it bad. If you are interested in your friend as well, flat out confess, or find a way to let him know how you feel. However, if you are not interested, and he is permanently friend zoned, add some distance between you two so as to not lead him on.

What signs do you look for when think someone wants to be more than friends? Do you agree with my list? Please share your thoughts and experience!

This isn't a crush, it's obsession. You are never not in my thoughts. Your scent carries across a room and paralyzes me with longing. I don't want to hold your hand. Part of me wants to set you on fire and hold you while the flame consumes us both, to eat your heart so I know that only I possess it entirely.” - Gwen Hayes, Falling Under

Halloween Costume Ideas For Women

If you are like me then you love Halloween. I love everything about Halloween. I love the decorations, the excitement of the kids, taking my girls trick or treating, handing out candy, and the crisp air on Halloween night. Best of all are the costumes, although they are the hardest to decide on.

Each year there is a decision to made on how big or small to go for costumes. Keep it simple with some cute ears, or a witches’ hat, or go big with a full on costume, wig, and make-up.

As I discussed with my girls what their costumes this year might be, I started pondering my options as well. I have narrowed my options, and I think I have made my choice. Any guesses?

First Date Conversation Starters

First dates can either be super fun and cute, or crazy awkward and uncomfortable. There’s usually not a whole lot of in between. I equate a first date to a job interview. You are nervous, but trying to project confidence, and make a good first impression.

There are literally thousands of questions you could ask your date, but remember your goal, and remember that you are also being interviewed for a possible date number two as well.

The goal is to get to know enough about them on the first date to make a determination of basic compatibility, which is the decider for a second date.

I chose the below questions for the first date because I think they are safe, non controversial questions that give you enough intel about your date, but shouldn’t creep them out. You do not want to make them feel like they are being interrogated, or like they being interviewed to be a sperm donor.

The first date questions should be light and fun, but also informative.

First Date Conversation Starters

Featured Video

1. Where are you from originally?

unsplash-image-4JL_VAgxwcU.jpg

Many adults move for education and for work, so there is a good chance your date is not a local native. Depending on the part of the country someone is from, or if they were born and raised outside the US, it really shapes the person they are.

2. Where did you go to school?

unsplash-image-jCIMcOpFHig.jpg

Asking about his school will give him an opportunity to humble brag, and for you to learn about his educational background and career. Alma Mater pride talk is always fun.

3. What are you favorite things to do?

unsplash-image-y8Ngwq34_Ak.jpg

The purpose of this question is to find commonality. If he enjoys spending his weekends antiquing and visiting art galleries, while you spend your weekends surfing and camping, you are probably not a good fit.

But you also find out that you both love doing the same things, which makes planning a second date a no-brainer.

4. Do you have pets?

unsplash-image-73pyV0JJOmE.jpg

Is he a cat lover or dog lover, or hates animals altogether? Sounds like no a big deal, but it would be if the relationship progressed.

It’s great to find out early that your potential mate is allergic to cats, and you have two cats at home.

5. What’s your favorite form of entertainment? Books? Music? Movies?

unsplash-image-AtPWnYNDJnM.jpg

I do not necessarily consider any answers to these questions deal breakers, and you do not need to have everything in common with a mate, but it is nice when you share similar taste in music and movies.

6. What is your guilty pleasure?

unsplash-image-yCwtZhYcQxs.jpg

This is just a fun question, and a test to see how much they are willing to open up, and possibly a peek into their silly side. We all have a guilty pleasure, but will they admit to theirs?

There’s nothing wrong with being a terrible singer and loving karaoke.

7. What really annoys you?

unsplash-image-nPz8akkUmDI.jpg

Some people find large crowds annoying, while others would rather not interact with children or animals.

It might be helpful to know that their pet peeve is people who are indecisive, especially if you know that is one of your main quirks.

8. Who is your favorite entertainer?

unsplash-image-21HT36zwLn8.jpg

The answer to this question should be very telling, and it should spark lively conversation. Is he open to fun banter and disagreement about who is the best singer, actor, writer, or musician, or does his opinion have to rule?

Be sure to keep the conversation natural, and space your questions out over the course of your time together. Hopefully you will find these questions helpful on your next first date, but remember that while you are asking these questions you are also trying to determine if you and your date have good chemistry.

What is your experience with first dates? Do you agree with my list of conversation staters? What questions would you ask on a first date? Please share your experience!

Easy Baked Potato Soup Recipe

Soup is the best kind of comfort food. On a chilly day nothing will warm you up like a nice bowl of soup. One of my favorite soups to whip up is baked potato soup. This recipe is super easy, and delicious. My family loves this soup, and often help prepare it.

This recipe is one of my favorites because it is quick, simple, and so yummy. Crumble crispy bacon on top, add some cheddar cheese, and sprinkle a little bit of green onion and you have the perfect bowl of soup.

Baked Potato Soup Recipe

The ingredients for my baked potato soup recipe are so simple but also versatile. My soup recipe is gluten free due to my allergy, so I use gluten free flour. For a slightly creamier taste I recommend replacing the russet potatoes with yukon gold. You can also use fat free, whole milk, or a combination of the milks with heavy cream. You decide, it’s your calories. LOL

Ingredients:

  • 3 Large Russet Potatoes, Peeled and Cubed

  • 2 Cups of Milk

  • 1 ½ Cup Chicken Broth

  • ½ Yellow Onion, Diced

  • 1/3 cup of Flour, Gluten Free

  • 3 tbsp. Butter

  • 6 Strips of Bacon

  • 2 Green Onions, Chopped

  • 1 tbsp. Minced Garlic

  • ¾ Cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded

  • Sea Salt

  • Pepper

  • Olive Oil

Directions:

On medium heat in a large pot or French oven add butter and drizzle about 1 tbsp. of olive oil. Add yellow onions and garlic to pot and sauté for about 2 minutes. Stir flour into pot and stir until mixture is blended. Next add broth, milk, potatoes, and a big pinch of salt and pepper. Reduce heat, cover, and allow soup to simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cook bacon until crisp and crumble on paper towel. Add 4 strips of crumbled bacon and ½ cup of cheese to soup and cook an additional 5 minutes. Serve and garnish with green onions, and the rest of the cheese and bacon.

One of the great things about this soup is that is seems to taste even better the next day. Double the recipe for lots of leftover and enjoy all week long. Baked potato soup is one of my winter favorites, but you can enjoy it all year long. I hope you enjoy!

6 Signs He's Interested In A Serious Relationship...With You

We all come to a point in our lives when we want to slow down, find the right person, and have a life with them. This doesn’t necessarily mean marriage for everyone, in fact many people are blissfully happy in coupledom, with no formal commitment.

However, at some point a decision is made to be in a committed relationship with one person, with the hopes of spending your life together.

Dating is fun, but most of us do not want to date forever. At some point you want to feel that the relationship is heading somewhere, but how do we know. Of course you can always ask him how he feels.

You can have that awkward “where is the relationship going conversation”, when likely you should already know by how he behaves in the relationship.

Signs He’s Interested In A Serious Relationship

He Makes You A Priority

He makes time for you and wants to spend time with you. He ensures that you know where you stand in his life and leaves no doubt that you are a priority to him. When he is running late, or has to work late he let’s you know.

You’ve Met His Friends and Family

Men are not going to bring a woman around their friends and family unless they see the relationship going somewhere. If he wants you to meet his family and friends, then he is telling you he is serious about you, and wants his friends and family to know it as well.

He Wants To Meet Your Family

Meeting the family of someone you are dating for the first time is nerve racking and a little uncomfortable. So if your guy is not only willing, but wanting to meet your family, it is a big sign that he wants a serious relationship with you.

He Makes Nice With Your Friends

A man who sees you as part of his future will want to have a good relationship with your friends. He realizes that they are important to you, and because they are important to you, he wants to have a good relationship with them.

He Wants To Be Exclusive

If a man is serious about you, he will not want to see or date other people. Also, the thought of you dating other guys would be unbearable for him. If he wants to see you and only you, and asks that you are exclusive, then he is saying he wants a serious relationship with you.

He Tells You

A man just coming out and telling you how he feels is obviously the best way to know how he feels, but sometimes getting men to discuss their feeling can be like pulling teeth. But if he is really serious about you, and sees a future with you, he will tell you.

When it comes to matters of the heart, our judgement can become clouded when trying to make a determination between what is and what we want. Life would be much simpler if we all “used our words”, and communicated our wants and feelings clearly. As this is not always the case, we have to read the signs, when we lack the courage for words.

What signs do you look for when you think a relationship is turning serious? Do you agree with the signs I say to look for? Please share your experience!

What Really Annoys You? You Are Not Alone...Top 10 Annoying Things People Do

In all honestly, I am more easily annoyed by behavior of others than I would like to admit. But in all fairness, I probably do my share of annoying others as well. Truth be told, nails on a chalkboard does not really bother me, but someone talking with food in their will drive me crazy.

I am willing to bet that when you read the title of this of blog some annoying things that people do immediately came to mind. I think there are some universal habits and behaviors that annoy just about everyone. Or maybe I am just knit picky and easily annoyed. You be the judge.

Driving On Cell.jpg

10 Most Annoying Things People Do

Slow Drivers In Passing Lane

Not that the expectation is that cars should be speeding, but it is extremely annoying and inconsiderate for a driver to be in the passing lane (far left), and driving barely the speed limit. What makes this even worse is that their speed is matching that of the car driving in the slower speed lane, and everyone ends up stuck behind them, for miles sometimes.

Unattended/Or Bad Kids in Restaurants

I am a mother, so I get that kids have their moments, and can be unruly and misbehave at times. However, when I am out trying to have a nice meal, it infuriates me to see kids running around, yelling, and throwing things, and have the parent make no efforts to correct the behaviors. Or worse, the parents are on their phones, or just not paying attention as their child completely disrupts everyone’s meal.

Kids in Adult Movies

All children are different, and varying attention spans, but I never find it appropriate for parents to brings children to Rated R movies. Often the children become disruptive because they are bored since they do not understand the adult content, and struggle to sit quietly for a 2 hour movie.

People Whose Bags Take Up Seats In Public Areas

In many public places there tends to be limited seating. Whether you are at the airport, or the DMV, it never fails that even though there are more people than seats available, people put their bags on seats taking up a spot.

People Who Leave Their Carts In Parking Spots

If you are disabled or dealing with small children by yourself in a parking lot I give you a pass. But for the other people who leave a cart in a parking spot because they are too lazy to take it back to the cart return is just annoying and rude. It’s very frustrating to be looking for parking, think you found and spot, only to turn into it and see a cart sitting there. Ugh!

People Who Talk Loud On Their Cellphones In Public

I don’t think some people realize who much louder their voices get when they are on the phone. Regardless, personal calls in public places are annoying and rude. Whether you are in an elevator, at a doctor’s office, or on a train, there is never an appropriate place to discuss your personal business in the ear shot of strangers.

Holding The Door For Someone When They Are Still Far Away

The intent behind holding the door for someone is good, but sometimes it can get a little weird and awkward. The general rule should be if someone is more than five paces out, just go and do not hold the door. Otherwise people feel the need to hurry now because someone is “politely” holding the door.

Noisy Eaters

People who chew loudly, with their mouths open, and smacking their lips is both annoying and gross. This also in includes slurping, and licking fingers. It can definitely ruin an appetite and a meal.

People Who Don’t Pick Up After Their Dogs

Being a pet owner comes with many responsibilities, and one of them is walking your dog. Usually when you walk your dog, it is going to entail picking up their poop. Unfortunately, far too many people walk their dogs unprepared to pick up after them, or are just to lazy to bother. Either way, it is no treat to see walking trails or sidewalks littered with dog poop, not to mention accidentally stepping in it.

People Who Tailgate Your Car

Tailgaters are just as annoying as slow drivers, but more dangerous. I have no problem moving over for someone who wants to go faster, but tailgating me in heavy traffic when clearly I cannot go any faster is obnoxious and ridiculous.

This list really could go on and on depending on your tolerance threshold for people in general. Do you agree with the list? What annoys you? Please share your experience and opinion!

20 Favorite Quotes About Letting Go and Moving On...

I love a good quote. All good things come to an end, or so I have been told. Whether you are an optimist or a realist, death or circumstance will force the endings to jobs, relationships, and sadly life.

Nothing lasts forever, no matter how much we wished they did sometimes. The challenge comes with letting go, and moving on.

For this blog I picked 20 old and new favorite quotes about moving on and letting go. Some are sweet, some are sad, but they all reflect the importance of letting go in order to be able to move forward. Once you are able to move on, you will have a chance of being happy again.

My 20 Favorite Letting Go And Moving On Quotes

10 Classic Scary Movies To Watch In The Fall

It’s that time of year again. As you all know, fall is my favorite time of year. There are many things to love about fall and Halloween and watching scary movies is one of them for me. I have never been one to go for the gore type of film, with a few irresistible exceptions. I tend to gravitate more to the psychological creepy and campy scary.

I caution that this list consists of some of my favorites to watch, and is not the definitive list of the best horror films ever. I will leave that for you all to decide. My picks are still fun, scary, sad, and yes even a little heart stopping after years of watching them over and over again.

My 10 Favorite Scary Movies To Watch

Psycho (1960) - A Phoenix secretary embezzles $40,000 from her employer's client, goes on the run, and checks into a remote motel run by a young man under the domination of his mother.

Halloween (1978) - Fifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield to kill again.

Carrie (1976) - Carrie White, a shy, friendless teenage girl who is sheltered by her domineering, religious mother, unleashes her telekinetic powers after being humiliated by her classmates at her senior prom.

Fright Night (1985) - A horror-obsessed teenager discovers that his next door neighbor is a murderous vampire. He tries to convince the police, his family and friends but to no avail. Now, he must take matters into his own hands.

The Silence Of The Lambs (1991) - A young FBI cadet must receive the help of an incarcerated and manipulative cannibal killer to help catch another serial killer, a madman who skins his victims.

Scream (1996) - A year after the murder of her mother, a teenage girl is terrorized by a new killer, who targets the girl and her friends by using horror films as part of a deadly game.

Misery (1990) - After a famous author is rescued from a car crash by a fan of his novels, he comes to realize that the care he is receiving is only the beginning of a nightmare of captivity and abuse.

Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) - The monstrous spirit of a slain janitor seeks revenge by invading the dreams of teenagers whose parents were responsible for his untimely death.

Sleepy Hollow (1999) - Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of 3 people with the culprit being the legendary apparition, the Headless Horseman.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992) - The centuries old vampire Count Dracula comes to England to seduce his barrister Jonathan Harker's fiancée Mina Murray and inflict havoc in the foreign land.

Nothing beats snuggling on the couch or in bed with your favorite snack on a chilly night watching one your favorite scary movies. It’s cool to brave it alone, but so much more fun with your favorite snuggle buddy, or a group of friends.

What are your favorite scary movies to watch in the fall, or any time of year for that matter? What would you add to the list? Nothing more recent than the 90’s though. Please share your favs!
